Fancy Nancy Day
Despite my original concerns about gender stereotyping and whether or not Emma would even want to participate, she ended up LOVING "Fancy Nancy Day" at school! While the boys were off having their bug day, the girls had a fashion show where they each walked the red carpet. They also got to make a craft, play Fancy Nancy games, listen to a Fancy Nancy story, hear a violin concert, get their nails painted, and have a tea party! It was all so cute. And you know what? The next day my little monster was back to digging in the dirt again. No harm done. It's good to be girly sometimes. :)

Sea World with Jon & Emma 04/21/13
Emma, Jon, & I had a great day at Sea World yesterday. The park was near empty, we were able to walk right on to any of the rides we wanted and the shows weren't too full either. We made it to the touch tanks and the bat rays this time, both of which were really neat. Emma's favorite part was that we were able to ride the Atlantis ride 3 times in a row! It was a really fun day.

Happy Birthday Jack!
Jack turned six years old this weekend. I took Emma & TJ to his party and they had a lot of fun. There was a swimming pool and a bounce house with a waterslide! Too fun.

Super Saturday!
Another fabulous Saturday spent with family and friends. We started off with an early morning hike with our girl scout troop through the hills during Highland Trails Day. Emma found a very fuzzy caterpillar which all of the kids thought was very cool. After the hike, we went to Lowes where the kids put their handyman skills to the test and built little planter boxes. They each were each even given a packet of tomato seeds to go with it. Can't wait to see what sprouts! Then we were home for a snack before heading off again. We went to watch Sophia's soccer game and then finished up the day with some trampoline fun and minigolf at Pharoah's. It was a wonderful day and the best par? It didn't cost me one red cent! :) The only bad part was that I dropped my new camera and it broke. :( At least I had the presence of mind to buy the warranty this time!

ICare Packing Party
One of the things I think is really neat about the Girl Scout cookie sales is the ICARE program. If someone doesn't want to eat the cookies, or can't for dietary issues, they can still support the scouts by buying "ICares." The scout still gets credit for a box sold and the actual cookies are sent to military troops serving overseas. Today we all went to Council office for the packing party. Thousands of boxes of cookies were tagged with thank you notes, cards were made, boxes packed, and lots of fun was had. I love that Emma is getting to experience giving back to the community in addition to earning money for her own activities. It's a win-win situation. :)

Happy birthday to ME!
Today was my birthday... *sigh* Yep, getting older. But, as my wise old father used to say... It's better than the alternative! :) It was a very low key day. Just work and then home with the little ones while Karen was in class. Jon came over for the evening and he brought me a cute little teddy bear and some beautiful roses. We ordered a pizza and made root beer floats with the kids... It's amazing what is considered a fun evening as you get older... :)

Happy 6th Birthday TJ!
TJ turned 6 years old this weekend and we celebrated with a party at the park. He had lots of friends and family there to celebrate with him and I think he had a wonderful time. The kids played on the playground, did an egg race, played pin the tail on the donkey, and busted open an awesome pinata chock full of candy. We had fried chicken, chips & dip, a giant sandwich, and fruit salad. TJ got lots of cool toys... Emma & I got him "Moon Shoes!" They are all kinds of awesome!
