Emma brought this art project home from daycare this week. I thought it looked familiar when I first saw it, but couldn't place where I had seen it before. Then it came to me. Well . . . I guess if Emma is ever stuck on a deserted island with just a volleyball for company, she will be able to make a friend! :)

Swimming
We went swimming for the first time this season with Grandma over at Grandma & Al's. Emma wasn't so sure about being in the big swimming pool. And she definitely wasn't feeling the floaties. So we took off the floaties and just played around in the water with me holding her. After a few minutes we decided to go into the hot tub instead, which is never really hot, just lukewarm. Emma was much more comfortable in that environment. More her size. She kept telling me "bath" and "bubbles." I think she thought it was just a large tub! We had a nice time and I have no doubt that, after a few more swims to refresh her memory from last summer, Emma will be back to being my water baby.

Uncle Pat
Uncle Pat came all the way from Wisconsin to visit this past week. We hadn't seen him in over a year and it was nice to visit, although we missed Aunt Teresa this trip. We had a BBQ with everyone at Tim & Jen's last Friday and then we had another family dinner later in the week. Emma loved her Uncle Pat! And his beard!

Headbands & Ice Cream Cones
Just a couple of cute new snapshots...
Emma & I went out to lunch and shopping at the mall with Lenay last weekend. After we finished shopping and playing in the Rte66 play area, we decided to stop for goodies. I got Emma her own cone for the first time (mainly to keep her off my Orange Julius drink) and she loved it. Held it correctly, taking big licks and little nibbles, each time giggling and saying "Cold!" It might have been cold, but she sure didn't want to give it up!

I took this picture with my cell this morning as we were leaving the house for daycare and work. She was already bright and sunny at 7am. I just think my girl is so pretty wearing her little headband and carrying her matching babydoll. She's such a good baby... Wakes up cheery every morning saying "Hi Mommy! We go bye-bye?"

Emma's New Best Friend
Emma has discovered a new "playmate" recently... her shadow!!! We were walking into her daycare center a couple of weeks ago and and, after months of cool/ cloudy mornings, the sun was finally shining brightly. Well, she got a glimpse of her shadow on the wall and it gave her quite a start. I explained that it was her, and she now insists on running up to her shadow every morning calling "Emmy Emmy." Then she runs to my shadow, hitting the wall and saying "Mommy." Its so funny, but I now have to budget an extra 10 minutes in the morning routine to play with our shadows as we go in. She waves at it, points at it, and tries to hug her shadow! Also, as its getting brighter in the morning, she has been asking for "eyes" and trying to grab my sunglasses. So now she wears sunglasses into daycare each morning and, for the past few days she has insisted on having her cell phone with her too. Ah... the joys of raising a California baby!So my 19 month (in 2 days) old baby now enters "school" every morning wearing shades and holding a cell up to her ear calling out "heh-woah." Her teachers have given her a new nickname... "Hollywood!"
