Proud to be an American

Emma's class had a patriotic performance this afternoon. All the kids wore star shirts and waved flags as they sang Yankee Doodle", "You're a Grand Ole Flag", and "America the Beautiful." It was very cute and Emma was very proud of her performance. Grandma & Al were supposed to come see the singing too, but Mom had a headache so they couldn't come. Emma was disappointed but she was excited to see that "Grandma Charlene" (Hayden's grandma) was able to make it. I thought that was very nice of her to come out & watch Emma sing

Pirate Park

Emma worked a cookie booth this morning and then we met Jon for lunch and the went in search of a new playground. We found a park with a pirate ship and a rock climbing area. Emma loved it, even though it was super windy out. We will definitely be visiting this park again soon.

This is what love looks like...

I just got the most awesome love letter anyone has ever seen.... ;-) I love this little girl.  She has such a loving heart and is just the sweetest, funniest, smartest child I've ever known - all bias aside. ;)

Monday Funday!

It was nice to have the day off today for President's Day. We were sad to see Uncle Pat & Aunt Teresa head back to Wisconsin and Matthew go back to Arizona, but it sure was nice visiting with them again this past week. After everyone left, Emma & I met Sophia & Erin for lunch and then we headed to the park to play and feed the ducks. The girls had a good time and it ended up being a nice afternoon!

Hockey Girls!

We went with our girl scout troop to a Reign game this afternoon. I love letting the girls experience things that are not traditionally "girly" activities. They all seemed to have a really good time. We were up in the nosebleed seats, which actually ended up being a very good thing as we had no one else around or behind us. So we were able to spread out and the girls liked climbing over the seats to find the "best " spots. Of course, they also enjoyed all the arena food... popcorn & peanuts & hot dogs etc. I got a couple of cute cell pix of Emma & her friends Natalie and Haley. I just wish my kid would SMILE for real instead of constantly making these goofy faces!!! Oh well, they will come back to haunt her in her teen years....

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was Valentine's Day. Emma rocked her heart hairdo at school. It turned out well & I was pretty proud of myself. She said all her friends liked it too. :) Later in the evening we met Jon for dinner at Taco Joe's (yummy!) and he brought me these gorgeous flowers. It was a good day.

Family Photos

It has been YEARS since we did any family photos. I'm talking like, almost 20 for whole groups, and about 5 for shots of just the grandkids. So, with Pat & Teresa in town visiting, it seemed like the perfect time to get everyone together and say cheese. Guess who got THAT job of orchestrating everyone's schedules & setting up a time, place, photographer, etc?? Yep, yours truly. Luckily, I've got an awesome friend (Jen) who takes amazing pictures and I've also been told I can be a bit controlling. So it ended up working out. These are some of my favorites from the day. I'm so glad we did this...

Another one bites the dust!

I think the floodgates have opened. Now losing teeth is less of a novelty & more of a common occurance. This kid is going to end up completely toothless at the rate she is going! She looks so damn cute though!

Science Night!

I had a lot of fun with my girl tonight at her school's science fair! Emma got to make slime, perform paper chromatography, hold a baby bearded dragon, worms, & a bunny, create a glider, a color wheel, & a duck call whistle. We finished up at the book fair where she choose a 1D book! I just love that she loves science. Definitely my mini-me. :)
