Emma has been very into playing pretend lately. She is into all the role-playing, imaginative, things that she should be at this age. And along with this, dress-up has become very important. Now, Emma does have 2 bins full of dress-up clothes at home, but most of them are not exactly appropriate for pre-school. Yet she has wanted to go to "be" somebody different almost every day for the past week or two. So each night we scour through her dresser & find clothing that loosely mimics the colors of designs of her favorite characters. Luckily she is still 2, so these approximations are still sufficient! And, with no further ado, the many moods of Emma!
Here we've got the red headband & bow, a blue top, and yellow skirt... tah-dah! It's Snow White!
A blue "gown" (sundress), a bun in her hair and a blue headband made an easy Cinderella...
Yellow clothing and a half-ponytail with a yellow bow made her into Belle from Beauty and the Beast...
Apparently a ponytail, gathered at multiple points with blue elastics was enough for Emma to consider herself Princess Jasmine for the day!
Venturing out from the princess realm, we found a pink tee shirt, orange shorts, and a backpack to make Emma transform into Dora the Explorer!
Ponytails, an oversized pink tee shirt, and purple leggings created my own little "Boo" from Monsters Inc.
A pink dress, a pink bow, and 2 high pony tails folded in on themselves to make ears and you get the cutest little Minnie Mouse ever!
She was such a good Minnie that even her shadow reminds a person of Disneyland!
After about a week of this, Emma woke up one morning and I asked her who she wanted to be that day... She smiled, looked at me, and said, "You know, I think I'm ready to just be Emma Grace again." I love this girl!
And, to make it even better, her decision to be herself again just happened to coincide with school picture day! Thank the Lord because He must have had something to do with this. Goodness knows I hadn't seen any signs of this phase ending soon!!
