Yesterday was an awesome day! Our friends Jen, Charlene, and Hayden came over and then we caravanned out to Forest Falls area. We stopped at Thurman Flats and took the little ones on a short hike (maybe 1/4 mile or so). They were so excited to be following the path & looking for the water. Once they found it, that was it. They must have played for 3 or 4 hours before we had to pry them away and drag them home. The water was crystal clear and cool, the sun was warm but not too blazing hot, and the picnic, although simple PB&Js and Bologna, was delicious. It was such a fun way to spend they day. Emma loves hiking and has been asking to go for months so I think she was the most exited.
The neat thing as how well everyone got along. Emma & TJ especially have been getting on each other's (and my!) last nerve lately. All I hear is "Stop looking at me Emma!" "I was just kidding!" "She started it!" "He hit me!" etc etc etc. Even on the way up the mountain, they were arguing. But get them outside, in fresh air, with plenty of space to run around and no television to argue over and all those squabbles fade away. Everyone is happy and relaxed . *sigh* ... peace. :)
The only (slight) problem with the day was that I sunscreened everyone as we got out of the car, while they still had shorts & shirts on. So, when Em stripped down to her swimsuit, that left a wide stripe of exposed, unprotected, back and she ended up with a bit of a burn. :( Poor baby. A little aloe and a good night's rest, and she is back up & at 'em today though. My little trouper. :)
